FRESH TALENT & INDUSTRY PERSPECTIVE

As per the surveys conducted by several reputed agencies and the feedback from IT, ITeS and Technology companies, only a small percentage of fresh graduates passing out of Engineering and other Technology streams like MCA in India are observed to be employable and very few of them are readily deployable in projects. Lack of adequate technical and behavioural skills is bringing down the net intake of fresh graduates in-to projects and billable roles, considerably.

Majority of the IT Services and Technology companies impart 3 to 6 months of Technology and Job specific training for fresh graduates before they deploy the fresh hires in to projects. About 40% of the training budget in IT Services companies is spent on training fresh graduates to make them project deployable.

Despite this effort and spend a good percentage of the hires still lack adequate skills to work on projects, which is impacting the industry readiness and capacity building.

Today less than 15% of Tech grads are absorbed in campus placements. An equal percentage of them are absorbed either in off campus recruitments by large IT and Technology companies or by Small and Medium Companies (SMEs).  For the rest there are very few opportunities to get jobs at reasonable compensation structure.

For graduates who could not secure Campus Placement in Tier-1 companies and hired through off campus drives, the salary offered will be much less than the campus hires.
